Multi-year deal to collect commissions
Sabre Travel Network has appointed Net Trans to help its agents collect hotel commissions.
The travel IT company has signed a multi-year deal with the specialist in retrieving hotel commissions.
Sabre said the agreement will enable its agents to increase the amount of commission collected but with lower costs.
Net Trans, which is based in Norway, said that hotel commissions were among the top three sources of revenue for many agencies.
But its research showed that 40% of commissions were never paid and that agents found chasing them a "cumbersome" process.
The agreement will be rolled out first in Europe in the second quarter of 2009 with the america and Pacific regions following.
Martin Cowley, Sabre's senior vp for the EMEA region, said: "It gives agents full transparency of their data, so they know exactly how much commission has been paid and how much is still owed.
"Net Trans also has a highly effective system for chasing commission that has not been paid.'
