A team of senior managers from Marriott hotels in London donned their wellies to clean up a stretch of the Thames riverbank.
Working with environmental charity Thames 21, the team cleared rubbish from the muddy bank in front of the London Eye and County Hall – home to the London Marriott Hotel County Hall Hotel.
In total, around a quarter of a tonne of waste was cleared. Among the items found were a cameras, credit cards and a 10ft long scaffolding tube.
Marriott managers have been assisting in the annual clean-up operation for more than five years, as part of their work to preserve the environment and work with local communitites.
Ross Paton, chairman of the Marriott London Business Council, which represents Marriott Hotels in London, said: “We are delighted to be involved with an event which can help to make a difference to the environment where we live and help preserve our majestic River Thames.”
