Lufthansa Group has announced a series of changes to the top management at several of its airlines.
The changes see Michael Kircher move from his role as head of training at Austrian Airlines to become CEO of Lufthansa City Airlines, the German carrier’s short-haul sudsidiary, from November 2026. Kircher replaces Pete Albers who will focus on his role as a Lufthansa Airlines pilot.
The group has also announced that Matthias Spohr will take over from Edi Wolfensberger as chief operating officer of Eurowings from 1 October 2026. Spohr currently leads Lufthansa Aviation Training.
Meanwhile, Wolfensberger will assume the role of CEO of Swiss leisure carrier Edelweiss from 1 October when the airline’s current CEO Bernd Bauer leaves Lufthansa Group.
