IHG Hotels & Resorts is set to grow its footprint in Portugal with the recent signing of two hotels in Lisbon – Convent Square Hotel Lisbon, Vignette Collection, set to open in 2023 and Crowne Plaza Caparica Lisbon, which is accepting booking from 19 December 2022.
The opening of the 121-room Convent Square Hotel Lisbon follows an extensive restoration of the property, first built in 1242, and will be a global flagship for the group’s ‘luxury lifestyle’ brand, Vignette Collection.
Located in the city’s Baixa District, the hotel is set around a cloister and features a restaurant, lounge and patio area and wellness facilities.
Crowne Plaza Caparica, meanwhile, will take over the former Hotel Aldeia dos Capuchos Golf & Spa and is 15 minutes’ drive southeast of Lisbon. The hotel comprises 227 rooms, including studios and apartments, several meeting spaces, three food and beverage areas, a wellness centre and nine-hole golf course.
IHG Hotels & Resorts, VP of development Europe, Willemijn Geels, said: “We are delighted to be announcing two more signings in Portugal – a key growth area for us. Both signings are contributing to IHG’s strong development pipeline, furthering the company’s ambition of industry-leading net rooms growth.”
The hotels will add to IHG’s portfolio Vignette Collection properties in Portugal, joining the newly-opened Casa da Companhia in Porto, Dona Filipa Hotel and Penina Hotel & Golf Resort, which are both being developed in Portugal’s Algarve region.
