Marriott’s midscale brand Fairfield by Marriott has opened its first European property in the Danish capital Copenhagen.
Fairfield by Marriott Copenhagen Nordhavn, which was first announced by the company in 2022, features 222 rooms designed with a “light, modern Scandinavian style”. They also include wifi and mobile desk spaces for business travellers.
The brand is already Marriott’s second largest with 1,290 properties already open and another 450 in the pipeline globally, including 17 in Europe and the Middle East.
Mary Garris, Marriott’s vice president of Classic Select global brand management, said: “As the brand's inaugural property in Europe, the opening of Fairfield by Marriott Copenhagen Nordhavn marks a significant milestone in our strategic growth plan for the Fairfield by Marriott brand.
“Fairfield by Marriott is known for its rich heritage that values a simple, seamless and stress-free experience which pairs well with modern Scandinavian culture and design, making Copenhagen the ideal city to introduce our European-inspired aesthetic.”
The Copenhagen hotel will act as a “blueprint” for the brand’s forthcoming Europe properties. It also features flexible public spaces, including The Social Market offering complimentary breakfast and a fitness centre.
Fairfield by Marriott is also due to open hotels at Bordeaux train station in France, Erding in southern Germany, Istanbul and Warwick in the UK. The Bordeaux hotel is due to open later this year, with the other three properties set to debut in 2025.
