GERMAN CARRIER Lufthansa will start flights between Munich and Baghdad on September 30.
The company predicted there would be high demand for the four-times weekly service between Munich and the Iraqi capital.
A two-class Boeing 737 will be used on the route, which will be operated on behalf of Lufthansa by the Swiss company PrivatAir. The German airline has also announced a return to Colombia. It will serve capital Bogota five times a week from October 31. The airline hasn't flown to the capital of Colombia since 2002, but is now keen to promote the Frankfurt-based route.
