HRG WORLDWIDE is helping to establish the first IATA-accredited travel agency in Afghanistan.
Dunya Travel, in Kabul, is a 'one-stop travel shop' established by Dubai-based Dnata Travel, which has a 23 per cent stake in HRG.
HRG will help Dunya with its corporate travel management expertise, while Dnata will work on the leisure travel side.
Iain Andrew, divisional senior vice-president, Dnata Travel Services, said: "Afghanistan is a rapidly expanding emerging market of strategic importance, close to some of the largest and fastest growing markets in the world.
"As the country becomes more stable, more international companies are moving into the region. With the opening of our offices here in Kabul, Dnata and HRG are able to offer these companies the full range of travel services they are used to across the globe."
These are interesting times for Hogg Robinson - HRG Italia has been appointed to manage travel for the world's oldest surviving bank, the Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS) Group, which was founded in Siena in 1472.
