BA Cityflyer is to launch flights from London City to Aberdeen this September, adding to existing services from Heathrow to the Scottish city.
The new route will commence on September 24, with flights on sale from today. The service will be operated by a mixture of Embraer E170 and E190 jets.
There are currently no flights between London City and Aberdeen - BA already serves Europe’s oil capital seven times-daily from London Heathrow, while Easyjet flies to Aberdeen from Luton and Gatwick, and Flybe serves the Scottish city from Gatwick.
Bmi also currently flies between Heathrow and Aberdeen, although new owners the International Airlines Group will have to give up these slots as part of its purchase of the carrier from Lufthansa.
BA recently announced the launch of a new route from London City to Venice, and will also increase flights from LCY to Glasgow from five to six times-daily from September.
Declan Collier, London City's chief executive, said: “The launch of the Aberdeen route is great news for business travelers using London City Airport and complements the Scottish destinations that LCY already serves."
