Accor plans to launch its Ibis and Pullman brands in Vietnam, as well as opening new Novotel and Mercure hotels.
Accor opened its first hotel in Vietnam in 1991, and views the country as a strategic market in southeast Asia. Its urrent expansion plans will nearly double Accor's inventory in the country, by adding more than 2,000 rooms.
Accor said: "With signs of both economic recovery and a re-strengthening of tourism arrivals, the Group is thus confident and ready to selectively expand our presence throughout the country."
Later this year, Accor will open its first Pullman hotel in Vietnam, the Pullman Vung Tao. The port city of Vung Tao is in the south of the country and has a growing oil industry.
Also in 2010, Accor's second MGallery, Hotel de L'Opera Hanoi, will open in Vietnam's capital.
Accor also plans to open its first Ibis hotels, both in Ho Chi Minh City: ibis Saigon and ibis Saigon South. Accor said these hotels represent the first two international economy hotels for Vietnam.
Other developments include three Novotels - Novotel Imperial Hoi An, Novotel Resort Phu Quoc and Novotel Saigon Centre. Plus a Mercure, the third in the country, will open in Hanoi.
