Meetings industry firm CI Group has launched a new app
called Liber that will help UK event organisers and venues meet a legal
requirement to collect visitors’ data for the NHS Test and Trace system, which
comes into effect on 18 September.
Visitors and staff can download the Liber app 14 days before
an event, and if they do not come into contact with other people or coronavirus health
risks in that time frame they can gain entry to live events and venues,
according to CI Group. The app has also been developed with testing
integrations that allow a venue to employ rapid coronavirus and symptoms
testing on-site, including temperature checks, with verification – green for ‘okay
to enter’ or red for further checks needed – passed directly to the user’s
mobile app. Users are also required to enter their contact details for tracing
purposes should the need arise following an event. All data held in the Liber
database is subject to GDPR compliance.
The app has been developed to link to other track and trace
apps, working on a decentralised system that can access multiple records. It
can also link to other event or travel-based apps and databases such as hotel
reward schemes, VIP traveller programmes and stadium and venue entry systems.
CI Group CEO David Watt said: “The events and travel sectors
are the heartland of our business. Anything we can do to help events and venues
be legally compliant with the government guidelines and bring people back to
major sporting, culture and business events safely and confidently is vital for
our industry.”
