The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE ) is calling on business travel professionals and students to travel around the world and learn about the industry on a global scale.
The new programme, Around the World in 80 Hours, will see some 15 students join travel executives to learn about key business centres around the world in person.
Launched at ACTE's Global Education Conference in New York, the association claims it is the only certified global business programme offered by a travel association.
Ron Di Leo, ACTE's executive director, said: “Around the World in 80 Hours is especially well-suited for professionals in emerging travel management markets and individuals who are expanding their portfolio of capabilities to include a global landscape.”
The scheme is certified for the students by the Conrad N Hilton college at the University of Houston, so they can earn one semester's worth of credits by taking part.
All participants, meanwhile, can earn the ACTE Accredited Global Travel Executive certification for each country they complete on the programme.
The programme will start in Sydney on September 6, and will be followed by stops in 14 key cities, including Delhi, Doha, London and Moscow. It will end on December 2 in Sao Paulo.
Travel professionals can select a single city, focus on a region or look at an emerging business travel trend with a customised itinerary.
At each stop, there will be training and networking opportunities with industry leaders, plus economic, industry and cultural briefings, and site visits to key suppliers of business travel products and services.
