The UK government has added Singapore and Thailand to the UK’s
list of travel corridors, meaning passengers returning from those countries
will no longer have to self-isolate on arrival starting Saturday.
However, UK residents have been told to check local travel
advice before going to Singapore and Thailand, as both countries have
restrictions on who can enter during the coronavirus pandemic.
In Singapore, short-term visitors from anywhere in the world
are not permitted to enter, while long-term pass holders and dependents need
approval before arriving. All of those granted permission to enter will be
issued with mandatory 14-day stay-at-home orders.
At present, only certain categories of foreign nationals are
permitted to enter or transit through Thailand, according to the Foreign and
Commonwealth Office. Those who are eligible to travel into the country are
subject to a 14-day quarantine period at a government-designated facility at
their own expense. Anyone suspected of having or carrying Covid-19 may be
denied entry even if given prior approval.
Meanwhile, Slovenia and Guadeloupe have been added back onto
the UK’s quarantine list from 0400 on Saturday, 19 September following a rise
in reported cases. Data shows Slovenia had 29.1 cases per 100,000 population as
of 16 September, up from 14.4 a week prior, while Guadeloupe reportedly had a
558 per cent increase in cases.
