Microsoft, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and Barclays have been confirmed as speakers for a new event that aims to address the impact of corporate travel on the environment.
The inaugural Corporate Travel Climate Action Summit (CTCAS) will take place in London's Canary Wharf on 15 November from 9am – 3pm.
The summit comprises a voluntary group of industry colleagues, and is inviting "those who have a personal and professional interest in making a positive collaborative difference in our sector" to join the event, according to Helen Hodgkinson, head of travel product at Barclaycard.
Speakers and attendees include individuals from WWF, CDP, The Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), AstraZeneca, Barclays, Enterprise, Microsoft, Unilever, American Express Global Business Travel, BCD Travel, Festive Road and Diners Club.
The agenda will start with an overview of the climate emergency by Gareth Redmond-King, head of climate change at WWF, entitled "The impact of global warming and climate change on the planet, and an introduction to the WWF Our Planet: Our Business programme".
The agenda also includes:
CDP: "If you can measure it, you can manage it". Understanding CDP reporting and Science Based Targets and how to take action to build a truly sustainable economy
CISL: What does leadership look like? Ben Kellard, Director of Business Strategy
Case studies: The Barclays travel team will present how they work with their sustainability team to measure and report business travel as part of Scope 3 emissions; and Microsoft will share its Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) initiative. This session will also be supported by SkyNRG, which will present its Board Now programme.
The day will finish with interactive breakout sessions to share ideas across the group on existing initiatives, new ideas and suggestions and aspirations for future forums.
The summit will take place at Barclays Bank, 1 Churchill Place, Canary Wharf, E14 5HP.
