Egencia has announced it will begin offering a new service
to help all its clients build more sustainable travel programmes.
The service will be offered by Egencia Consulting and
includes a four-pronged programme based on the key areas of sustainability –
planet, people, profit and performance. The service has been available since
2016, but the new programme is now being offered to all customers.
It adds to the TMC’s existing portfolio of sustainability
products, including the Carbon Emissions Workspace in the Egencia Analytics
Studio.
Manuel Brachet, vice president of account management, said: “Every
day, travel managers seek our advice on how to build a more sustainable travel
programme. With the Egencia Consulting sustainability offer, they get expert
advice from deep industry specialists. We’re working to support customers’
sustainability objectives across multiple areas of business travel, today with
real-time carbon emission data reports and consulting, and tomorrow with tools
and insights to make more sustainable travel choices.”
According to Egencia, businesses can take a number of steps
to improve their sustainability, including choosing direct flights rather than
stopovers where possible, optimising work trips, mitigating the wellbeing
impacts of travel and measuring the effect of policy changes.
Peggy Gabriel, global category manager FM and HR services at
Vattenfall, commented: “We wanted a sustainable travel programme that went
further than just air travel, so we decided to focus on hotels. We worked
closely with Egencia Consulting sustainability practice to set our sustainability
requirements, benchmark these against the hotel market, and evaluate the
results. Most importantly, we then made our preferred sustainable hotels
visible through our online booking system, really integrating sustainability
into the core of our travel programme.”
To celebrate the launch of the new programme and its Carnival-themed
party on the first evening of the Business Travel Show, Egencia has partnered
with Tour House of Brazil to plant 5,000 trees in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil
to offset the travel of all attendees who visit the Egencia stand (B530) at the
event.
