Cambridge airport has reduced its landing fees in a bid to attract private jets, including the Boeing Business Jet.
From next week, a new banding structure will be introduced which will mean a BBJ 737 flight will see an 87% reduction in landing fees, while a Falcon 900’s is cut by 72%.
Airport owners The Marshall Group now levies fees on private jets of between 20 and 70 tonnes in 10 tonne increments. Above this level, fixed fees apply. For long-haul jets, there are zero-rated landing fees for all aircraft uplifting 5,000 litres of fuel.
Jon Harper, the airport’s business development manager for business aviation said: “The former pricing policy did not support our long-term strategy, which is to attract a wider base of business aviation clients, continue development of a vibrant aviation hub for the east of England region and be more competitive against the London centric airports.”
