Portman Clarity is set to make 50 positions redundant following a four-month review of the merged TMC’s operations.
The two companies, which employ more than 700 people in the UK, Ireland and Netherlands, announced they would be merging in November 2016 and plan to announce a new “brand identity” in May.
Following a review of its locations, Portman Clarity has decided to close offices at Chertsey, Aberdeen and Newcastle.
“Affected staff will be offered the opportunity to relocate to other Portman Clarity sites or apply for other internal roles,” said the TMC in a statement. “However, it is anticipated that there will be up to 50 positions made redundant.
“A migration plan is in place to ensure the smooth transfer of clients serviced by the closing sites and keep all operations ‘business as usual’.”
Portman Clarity had already announced that the combined business would be based in Manchester and run by CEO Pat McDonagh and a new senior management team.
McDonagh added: “We are working closely with the people affected by the proposed office closures to make sure that, wherever possible, roles are relocated or transferred. However, we are realistic, and this will be difficult for everyone involved.
“We have the capacity and expertise in other locations to ensure the continuity of the excellent service our clients are used to.”
The TMC said it would also be making “significant investment” in its locations at East Kilbride and Edinburgh in Scotland and Tralee in Ireland.
This will include expanding Portman’s 24-hour in-house emergency team in East Kilbride to cover all Clarity clients, while the Portman Concierge service in Edinburgh will also be extended to cater for Clarity’s VIP travellers.
