First class lounge at Runcorn station
Virgin Trains has teamed up with mobile telephone operator T-Mobile to provide improved wireless broadband (Wi-Fi) in all its first class lounges.
The service will be available to all first class customers with Wi-Fi enabled laptops and PDA”s, and not just T-Mobile users.
The new service means customers using first class lounges at London Euston, Coventry, Birmingham New Street, Wolverhampton, Stoke-On-Trent and Manchester Piccadilly can now access the internet whilst they wait for trains.
”We know that our First Class customers value the ability to work onboard our trains and in our First Class lounges,” said Virgin Trains new product development manager, Victoria Mawson. ”That is why we have upgraded the wireless broadband facility in our lounges. We also intend to roll out wireless broadband across our trains and routes starting later this year.”
In addition, Virgin Trains is also improving the mobile phone reception onboard its trains. The upgraded trains provide the same level of reception inside the train, as available outside. The first sixteen upgraded trains are already in service and will soon be identifiably by special labels on the mobile phone and laptop charging points.
The wireless broadband facility is also available in the new first class lounge at Runcorn station, which opened last month and will be available later this month at Birmingham International.
