A new shuttle bus links central London”s Liverpool Street station with Heathrow.
A new National Express shuttle bus launched on Monday for East Anglia train passengers travelling from Liverpool Street station to Heathrow.
Passengers can choose to pre-book the Dot2Dot shuttle so the bus is waiting for them when they arrive, or they can request the service on arrival.
Should a train be delayed, another shuttle will be sent for passengers who have booked their train and shuttle in advance so other Dot2Dot passengers won”t be kept waiting. National Express Dot2Dot”s service receives train timetable updates from train companies to alert them of any delays.
Each shuttle bus can seat up to 10 or 12 passengers and goes from Liverpool Street to all Heathrow terminals 24 hours a day, every day. The journey takes approximately 90 minutes and costs no more than ”20.
Although the service is usually direct, the shuttles may stop and collect passengers en route to the airport. But a spokesperson for Dot2Dot said there will be no more than three pickups.
All the 70 shuttles in the fleet have leather seats, air conditioning and space for luggage. Free wifi is currently being installed and will be fully installed by the end of 2008.
A further 26 buses will also be added to the fleet by the end of the year.
The service is an expansion of the existing Dot2Dot route which takes passengers arriving into King”s Cross to Heathrow.
Paul Whitfield, managing director of Dot2Dot said: ”Our intention at Dot2Dot has always been to simplify the journey across London for the millions of passengers travelling to and from Heathrow. It”s great that we can now extend this service to anybody coming in to Liverpool Street, as well as King”s Cross, and give our customers a joined up and more comfortable way of travelling across London to one of the world”s busiest airports.”
