Cross-channel car shuttle operator Eurotunnel operated a normal service this weekend, despite being warned of industrial action by French workers.
Eurotunnel was braced for a walk-out over the bank holiday weekend, one of its busiest periods of the year, but it failed to materialise.
A Eurotunnel spokesman said operations continued as normal: “We carried between seven and eight thousand vehicles each day.
“Clearly the unions had very little support from the work force.”
There remains the possibility of disruption at a later date, however.
The spokesman said the future was “unclear” as the notice for intent to strike was for an unlimited period.
“We want to be able to continue good relations with the unions,” he added, “but we’ve got to find a way out of this particular difficulty first.”
The French unions representing workers at Eurotunnel are calling for a pay rise.
