Cross-channel rail services between London and Brussels have been cancelled, due to an incident this morning near Belgium's capital.
Three domestic trains collided at Halle station, southwest of Brussels, resulting in 20 deaths, reports say. The accident occurred where the domestic commuter lines and high-speed lines meet.
The following statement has appeared on the Eurostar website: "Due to an incident on the Belgian domestic line, services in and out of Brussels are completely suspended until further notice. It is possible that services remain suspended all day."
Eurostar is also operating a reduced timetable between its UK stations and Lille.
Eurostar has advised Brussels travellers booked to travel to Belgium today to exchange their tickets or have them refunded. Eurostar's Paris services are not affected.
Thalys, which also runs high speed trains from Brussels to a number of cities including Amsterdam and Paris, has suspended services until at least 2pm today (February 15).
"Our teams are doing everything they can to remedy the situation as quickly as possible," said Thalys.
