Eurostar has today (September 22) increased the number of services to Paris and Brussels.
Although still operating a restricted timetable, 15 trains will run to Paris daily and 6 to Brussels until at least September 30.
This is compared to 18 and 10 trains Eurostar ran respectively to the cities before the fire on September 11.
Tunnel operator Eurotunnel hopes to run at ”nearly 100% capacity” by the end of the week, reports claimed today.
Eurostar has already announced extra services running from next Monday to Thursday (September 22-25).
The extra tickets went on sale on Friday (September 19) despite the train company running severely reduced services since the fire on a freight train.
Eurostar advised customers to book tickets via its website or an agent rather than telephone its call centre.
The train company said there would be no extra availability this weekend (September 26-28).
Customers with tickets who decide not to travel will get a refund or be able to exchange them for travel at a later date, the train company said.
Eurostar has already warned customers to travel only if ”absolutely essential,” particularly at weekends, while journey times will be longer.
Four airlines, BA, bmi, Air France KLM and VLM have put on extra capacity or flights to cope with the train disruption.
Eurostar advised travellers with essential journeys to arrive at their station and check-in as normal and they would be put on the first available train.
