Europcar UK Group plans to give data on the CO2 emissions of its different car bands so that companies or bookers can make more informed decisions on what kind of vehicle they hire.
”Through this industry-leading initiative, Europcar and National will be the first daily rental brands to include average CO2 emissions in each car group, along with size and transmission,” said Europcar UK Group fleet director Tim Bailey.
”Fleet managers will be able to make more informed choices in order to meet their own organisation”s environmental goals, helping them contribute to an overall reduction in emissions.”
The greenest group will feature average 130gms CO2 emissions vehicles, including three-door hatchbacks such as the Peugeot 107. The highest group will comprise 230gms emitters including executive saloon automatic estates such as the Saab 9-5 and Volvo V70.
”Our environmental commitment is central to our business development strategy and the addition of this information is just the first of a number of initiatives we are developing,” said Bailey. ”For example, we are also exploring new technologies such as biofuel, High-pressure Direct Injection, and Volkswagen”s BlueMotion fuel-efficient cars, in order to introduce a sub-120gms CO2 emissions group.”
