Germany”s rail network has been thrown into paralysis this morning (5 October) as train drivers walked out in a dispute concerning pay.
The three-hour strike will have serious knock-on consequences for the rest of the day as cancelled trains will have to reposition across the country, although a Deutsche Bahn (DB) spokesman told ABTN that he expected services to return to normal tomorrow.
The rail system was severely disrupted from the high-speed ICE services to regional and freight trains.
”This is a pay dispute organised by the union which is not happy about salaries,” said the spokesman, adding: ”DB did promise a pay increase, but the drivers are still not happy.”
