Canada-based airline Westjet has announced three senior appointments as it beings planning for global expansion.
Gandeephan Ganeshalingam joins Westjet as VP of lean and continuous improvement from 19 February. He is currently chief innovation officer at GE Canada, where he worked with Westjet on several initiatives, including an artificial intelligence project aimed at improving dispatch reliability on the airline’s B767s.
Meanwhile, Stuart McDonald will be vice president and chief technology officer from 29 January. McDonald has 25 years’ experience in global IT leadership, most recently as VP of strategic initiatives and employee enablement at TD Bank and has also held the role with Cathay Pacific. He will work to build Westjet’s global technology footprint, which it says is needed to meet its expansion plans.
Lastly, Scott Groh joined the airline on 3 January in the role of VP of crew resources. Groh most recently worked for Qatar Airways and previously held a position at Etihad Airways. He has more than 30 years’ experience in crew planning and operations. Groh will help Westjet deploy a new fleet of B787 Dreamliners in line with the carrier’s global network plans.
