United Airlines has announced it will reinstate its flights between New York/Newark and both Delhi and Mumbai after Pakistan reopened its airspace.
Flights will resume from 6 September for eastbound service and 7 September for westbound, with tickets available to purchase now. United had earlier said it would extend cancellations until October but said it had "reviewed plans".
Pakistan closed its airspace in February amid tensions with India. Two Indian jets were shot down over Kashmir and the pilots were allegedly captured by Pakistani forces, but India said the claim was wrong and that it had shot down a Pakistani plane.
The closure of the airspace meant a number of airlines had to reroute flights to India, but United made the decision to suspend services altogether.
With the airspace reopened, carriers can once again fly over Pakistan on their way to India.
United customers booked on to Delhi or Mumbai flights until 6 September can either re-book for September or request a full refund. The carrier warns that those wishing to travel from the US to India before it resumes its services will face limited capacity.
