British Airways yesterday (September 2) opened a dedicated business class check-in zone at Heathrow T5 yesterday.
The new area, located in Zone H, is signposted at the far southern end of the terminal next to the first class area and security gate.
Business class passengers can now take advantage of 16 ”fast bag drops” for those with hold luggage only, 16 check-in kiosks and four customer service desks for travellers embarking on more complicated journeys.
Despite the new facilities, BA still recommends customers check-in online and select their seats up to 24 hours before arriving at the airport, by visiting www.ba.com/managemybooking.
Previously, customers of BA”s two business class clubs, Club World and its short-haul equivalent Club Europe, used the same check-in area as standard fare passengers. The new zone is not available to World Traveller Plus customers.
According to T5 customer experience manager Paul Nickson, more than seven million people have passed through the building to date, with numbers set to increase on September 17 with the addition of 30 more long haul flights. BA aim to move all operations to T5 by October 22.
He said: ”This increased capacity means that even more business class customers are flying through Terminal 5 so it”s a good time to introduce the dedicated zone.”
