Hilton has agreed a deal with Scandic Hotels Group to add new properties across the Nordic markets of Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.
The “multi-year” agreement will see Stockholm-based Scandic work with Hilton to develop new hotels in the four countries, which will operate under Hilton’s range of brands.
The first development through this deal will be a new-build Hilton Hotels property next to Copenhagen Airport, which is due to open in 2029. The 284-room property will be operated by Scandic under a franchise agreement with Hilton.
Jens Mathiesen, president and CEO of Scandic Hotels Group, said: “Having successfully franchised and operated Hilton hotels in Helsinki for many years, we have demonstrated the strength of combining a global brand with Scandic's leading operational platform. Together with Hilton, we see attractive opportunities to grow and expand our business across the Nordics.”
Hilton’s CEO Chris Nassetta called the Scandic deal a “significant milestone” for the US hotel giant, which would create a “clear pathway” to expand across the four countries.
“It reflects our long-term ambition for the region and, together with Scandic, opens the door to significant new opportunities for Hilton, our owners and our guests”, added Nassetta.
The two firms said in a statement that the agreement will also lead to new member benefits for members of Hilton and Scandic’s loyalty programmes.
Scandic is the largest hotel company in the Nordic region with a network of more than 300 hotels in operation and under development.
