Swiss is rolling out the ‘Airspace’ cabin concept on its Airbus A320neo fleet on short- and medium-haul routes.
The cabin features larger overhead bins, a lighting system that can be aligned to human biorhythms and more comfortable seating. The first two aircraft equipped with the cabin will begin commercial flights this month.
The ‘Airspace’ cab includes washrooms that are more accessible for travellers with disabilities and are also fitted with antimicrobial surfaces to boost hygiene.
Tamur Goudarzi Pour, chief commercial officer, Swiss, said: “As a premium air carrier, we continue to strive to offer our customers the highest possible quality standards, even in the present crisis times. And Airbus’s advanced and innovative new Airspace cabin concept for our short-haul travellers is making a key contribution to all these endeavours.”
Swiss now has five new Airbus A320neo and two new Airbus A321neo aircraft. The remaining 18 Airbus A32Xneos on order are expected to be delivered over the next three years. The aircraft replace older Airbus models and have more fuel-efficient engines helping to boost the carrier’s environmental efforts.
