Southampton airport has begun campaigning to attract business travellers from the executive heartlands of Surrey and Berkshire.
The airport believes it can provide a viable alternative to Heathrow for short-haul business passengers along the M3 corridor.
A poster campaign based on the slogan ‘It’s my airport’ begins this month, highlighting the airport's good rail connections and the 60 second walk from train station to terminal.
Southampton airport currently attracts two million passengers, 40% of whom are travelling on business.
However, officials believe it has a potential catchment of 7.6 million people within a 90-minute journey. The campaign will feature claimed journey times of less than an hour’s drive from Bracknell and Camberley and 65 minutes’ from Guildford.
“With around 50 destinations and excellent road and rail links, heading south can often be a much quicker door to door experience with less stress,” said Jan Halliday, director of marketing and communications.
