Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has launched high-speed onboard wifi for members of its EuroBonus loyalty scheme who are flying on itsAirbus A320 aircraft.
The internet service is being introduced by SAS as part of a deal with Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite system, which was announced in early 2025.
The airline said that it had also partnered with mobile network operator 3 to provide free wifi access for EuroBonus members, which will allow them to benefit from internet speeds of up to 500 mbps (megabits per second).
SAS is initially rolling out Starlink installations on its fleet of A320s with plans to expand the service to other aircraft types from later this year.
Paul Verhagen, executive vice president and chief commercial officer at SAS, said: “Connectivity has become a natural part of everyday life, including when travelling. With this launch, we are taking a major step toward offering our customers a more flexible, productive and enjoyable time onboard.
“Whether they want to work, create, play or stay in touch, this solution brings the onboard experience closer to how people live today.”
An increasing number of airlines have been striking deals with Starlink to provide faster onboard internet services, including a recent agreement to cover Lufthansa Group’s entire fleet of 850 aircraft.
Other major airline groups to sign up for Starlink wifi include IAG, Air France and Emirates. Meanwhile Italian high-speed rail operator Italo is planning to roll out Starlink wifi from mid 2026.
