Low fare airline Ryanair has launched a new Flight Tracker service which will deliver flight information directly to UK and Irish mobile telephones.
By calling or texting Flight Tracker, passengers will receive up-to-date information on the status of any Ryanair flight to and from the UK and Ireland and regular flight updates for ”1.50 ($3).
Customers can call 0844 939393 from their mobiles or text FR plus the flight number to 85122 from the UK. From Ireland the number to call is 0818 220333 or text 57252. You can also view a demo of the service on flighttracker.ie.
”Flight Tracker will keep you updated on departure and arrival times as well as providing important notifications on those rare occasions when a flight is delayed,” said Ryanair director of ancillary revenue Sinead Finn. ”This service will allow people to keep those airport parking charges to a minimum.”
New base
The airline launched its 25th base at Birmingham this week, which it says will sustain 5,000 jobs and deliver 5m passengers by 2012.
"This will equate to ”400m visitor spend for the West Midlands," said a Ryanair spokeswoman. "We're also announcing a further nine new routes which go on sale today. With 32 services from Birmingham announced to date, people in the region no longer have to suffer BA high fares or their high fuel surcharges."
