Ryanair is seeking assurances from the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) that there will be no repetition of this morning”s (3 December) power cut in the run-up to Christmas.
Power was out at Ireland”s premier gateway between 07:50 and 08:30, causing delays to 21 flights ” and provoking Ryanair”s ire.
”Once again, thousands of passengers have been inconvenienced,” said a Ryanair spokesman. ”Why doesn”t the Dublin Airport monopoly have a generator to prevent disruption during power cuts?
”Thousands of passengers have been delayed ” will the DAA now compensate these passengers and airlines because of their failure to provide a contingency plan?”
A DAA spokesman told ABTN from Dublin that: ”We are still not absolutely certain what caused it [power cut] and one of our back-up systems failed to kick in.
”We regret any inconvenience caused to passengers and we will do everything we can to ensure it does not happen again.”
