Fast growing Qatar Airways is to add Stockholm to its network from 27 November with four weekly flights using Airbus A319 aircraft.
Qatar claims it will be the first Middle East carrier operating to Scandinavia and the service will feature a two-class configuration ” eight passengers in business and 102 in economy class.
The Doha-Stockholm route will capitalise on what Qatar says are significant business tie-ups in the telecommunication, environmental technology and construction sectors.
”With this route launch, we will be able to serve the entire Scandinavian market and vice versa, bringing visitors from key feeder markets of the GCC countries to Scandinavia,” said Qatar CEO, Akbar Al Baker.
”Stockholm is a vitally important commercial and business centre, as well as a popular city for tourism. Our new service will contribute to bridging links between two very different parts of the world.”
The Swedish capital brings to 80 the number of routes operated by Qatar, using a 58-strong all-Airbus fleet and builds on the launch earlier this year of rotations to Geneva.
Baker also stressed the importance of the carrier”s new Premium Terminal at Doha, used exclusively for first and business class passengers. Constructed in just nine months, the Terminal is the first of its kind dedicated to high-fare paying passengers.
