Qatar Airways has become the first Middle East carrier to launch non-stop services to the Baltic region.
The airline”s first Airbus A319 touched down in Stockholm yesterday (27 November) from Doha, marking the carrier”s 80th destination.
Expanding Qatar now operates a 58-strong all-Airbus fleet and the Swedish service is the airline”s second European launch this year, following on from a Geneva introduction in the summer.
”Stockholm in particular, was chosen because of the huge amount of business and tourism interest in this city,” said Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker, adding: ”Our flights will contribute to bridging links between two very different parts of the world.”
Qatar will operate the Stockholm flight using an A319 configured in two classes and featuring eight business and 102 economy class seats.
The airline is also marking the first anniversary of its Premium Terminal in Doha International Airport, featuring a spa, jacuzzi and business centre, dedicated to first and business class passengers.
