New Zealand domestic services from Qantas-owned Cityflyer, will benefit from a multi-million dollar investment to target the business traveller.
The changes ” to be implemented from November this year ” will include online check-in, self-service kiosks, free bar service from 4pm on weekdays and what the carrier refers to as an ”enhanced food service.”
The upgrade will also include refurbishing domestic Qantas Club lounges in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington, with work to be completed by April next year.
Cabins will also progressively be refreshed on the airline”s domestic Boeing 737 fleet, which will number five by 2008.
”Cityflyer is being tailored for the specific needs of our New Zealand business travellers,” said Qantas regional general manager New Zealand, Grant Lilly, adding: ”and will operate on the major business routes of Auckland-Wellington, Auckland-Christchurch and Wellington-Christchurch.”
The extra aircraft will allow Qantas to reintroduce services between Christchurch and Wellington, as well as allow for greater schedule flexibility.
QuickCheck self-service kiosks will be installed at Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington domestic terminals, by February next year. ”QuickCheck allows passengers to check-in for flights, select seats and print boarding passes in less than 60 seconds,” said Lilley.
”The changes reinforce Qantas” commitment to the New Zealand market.”
