Porter Airlines, which operates out of the rejuvenated Toronto City Centre Airport (YTZ), is to continue with its previous summer only service to Halifax, Nova Scotia, on a year-round basis.
The extended schedule features weekend flights between Halifax and Ottawa with continuing service to Toronto City Centre Airport (TCCA). There will be one TCCA - Ottawa - Halifax flight Friday evening, with a return flight Saturday morning; Sunday features one round trip.
”We could see early on that Halifax had great potential for Porter as a destination beyond the summer and it was simply a matter of finding a schedule that works for everyone,” said Porter Airlines president and CEO, Robert Deluce. ”Halifax responded to Porter and we”re pleased to have the scheduling flexibility to extend this service.
”Based on our current number of aircraft, a weekend schedule for Halifax starting in September allows us to continue servicing the market while maintaining high flight frequencies in Ottawa and Montreal.”
Porter”s autumn service between TCCA and Ottawa returns to ten daily weekday round-trips, while TCCA - Montreal returns to nine on 5 September. All of Porter”s operations are flown by 70-seat Bombardier Q400 propjets with a 34” (86cm) seat pitch.
The airline first flew from the controversial island airport near Toronto city centre in October 2006. It claims a 90% seat occupancy for the summer months 2007.
