Turkish carrier Pegasus Airlines has launched a new route between London Gatwick and Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen International Airport.
The new daily route, which launched on Tuesday (16 June), increases Pegasus’ capacity to the UK capital — the airline already operates flights between London Stansted and Istanbul.
Jonny Macneal, head of aviation development at Gatwick, said: “Pegasus’ arrival highlights the continued strong demand from carriers to operate from London Gatwick as we expand our network and enhance connectivity across Europe and beyond.”
Pegasus is the sixth airline to launch flights from Gatwick so far this year, including Air France after a gap of around 30 years, plus Condor, Jet2 and AirAsia X.
As well as operating from the two London airports, Pegasus also flies to Turkey from Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Edinburgh airports.
