British Airways (BA) and Qantas are to move into Shanghai Pudong”s Terminal 2 tomorrow (26 March) in a series of moves designed to co-ordinate oneworld members under one roof.
Cathay Pacific, Dragonair and Finnair will follow on 29 April, while American Airlines will move at a date yet to be specified from its present location in Terminal 1. American”s code-share partner, China Eastern, will also remain in Terminal 1.
Japan Airlines (JAL) will stay in Terminal 1 with its own business lounge, while American will offer its passengers use of the building”s common use lounge. Any oneworld customer with Emerald and Sapphire cards and flying with American can however, choose to access the JAL facility.
Both Cathay Pacific and Dragonair will have a joint airside lounge in Terminal 2 opposite gate D68 and which will also be available to any Emerald or Sapphire card holder.
The changes come as oneworld carriers engage in a series of global moves, designed to bring alliance members physically closer to each other at airports. BA and Qantas moved into Beijing”s new Terminal 3 last month, while Cathay, Dragonair, Finnair and JAL will move tomorrow.
BA is also to formally move into its new Heathrow home of Terminal 5 this Thursday, triggering a raft of airline shuffling that will see oneworld carriers move from four terminals to two.
