Qatar Airways plans to double the number of flights between Doha and Manchester.
The middle eastern airline will add a second daily flight on the route from June 1.
Strong performance on the Manchester route prompted the decision to bolster capacity, said Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways’ CEO.
“Manchester has long proved to be one of our successful routes so it was only a matter of time before we could deploy additional capacity into this market,” he said.
Qatar will use an Airbus A330 to operate the two daily flights, in a two-class configuration (business and economy).
The new schedule will see flight QR041 from Doha depart at 1.50am, arriving into Manchester at 7.30am.
Flight QR045 will leave Doha at 7.45am, and arrive at Manchester at 1.25pm.
At 10am, flight QR042 will leave Manchester, arriving into Doha at 7pm. The second flight of the day (QR046) will leave Manchester at 2.55pm and arrive into Doha at 11.55pm.
According to Andrew Harrison, Manchester Airport’s managing director, the long haul network at the airport is growing.
He said: “Our leisure and business passengers want the frequency that is being provided by airlines like Qatar Airways and we know it’ll prove popular in the years ahead.”
