Hundreds of professionals expected to attend event
Germany's travel manager of the year Lutz Stammnitz will be the keynote speaker at this year's Business Travel Days conference at the ITB in Berlin next month.
The theme of the talk by the president of procurement for Siemens will be "Business Travel management: a Black Box."
The four day event will run from Wednesday, March 11 to Saturday, March 14 and be attended by hundreds of delegates from senior travel managers, consultants, and airline and hotel executives to young professionals starting their careers in travel management.
The first day, March 11, Business Travel Junior Day, will be devoted to students and young people looking at travel management as a career.
Among the speakers are Prof Friedrich Esser, head of vocational training at the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts and Dr Irene Feige, project manager at Mobility Research who will assess how travel might look in 2025.
Other speakers at the conference include Michael Schneider from the VDR Academy who will talk on the negotiating options in contract discussions between airlines and companies, Gerhard Bleille, president of the Association of German Event Organisers and Joachim Hunold, Air Berlin's ceo who will look at the big challenges facing aviation in 2009.
There will also be panel discussions during the conference on Germany as a MICE destination, the problem of visas for business travellers and the hidden costs of air fares.
