The airlines of the Lufthansa Group have added more
destinations to their schedules in the second half of June with a focus on popular
summer tourist locations.
From 15 June, Lufthansa will resume around 20 German and
European flights from Frankfurt and as many as 34 from Munich, with
destinations including Dubrovnik, Faro, Venice, Ibiza, Malaga, Porto, Split,
Cyprus and Biarra. As a result, the airline’s schedule will grow from around
500 to almost 900 weekly connections.
In addition, Lufthansa will resume long-haul flights from
Frankfurt to Cairo, Beijing, Shanghai and San Jose (Costa Rica), and from
Munich to San Francisco, Delhi, Montreal and Seoul.
Also from 15 June, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines,
which have been grounded throughout the pandemic, will resume regular flights
to 37 and 59 destinations respectively, with details to be released soon.
Swiss will increase services to Italy with the resumption of
flights from Zurich to Brindisi, Florence, Naples, Palermo, Rome and other
destinations. From Geneva, it will restart services to Faro and Nice, among
other cities, along with continuing to serve ten long-haul routes. Meanwhile
Edelweiss will offer 171 flights to 36 holiday destinations by the end of June.
Eurowings will double its fleet to 20 Airbus aircraft by the
end of June, allowing it to add 40 European destinations to its schedule,
mainly to island destinations such as Mallorca, Sylt and Heringsdorf, as well
as Greece and Croatia.
And Air Dolomiti will operate its first flights from
Florence to Catania and Palermo from 5 June and to Bari and Cagliari on 19
June.
The resumption of flights adds to the Lufthansa Group’s
previously announced expanded schedule for June and comes as more European
countries begin lifting lockdown measures and travel restrictions.
