Poland-based travel management company eTravel has expanded across Eastern Europe with the acquisition of a majority stake in Romanian TMC Accent Travel & Events. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but the deal was enabled by Enterprise Investors, eTravel’s financial backer.
Accent Travel & Events will retain its brand within the eTravel group, while clients will gain access to eTravel’s “broader portfolio of products”, including its proprietary booking and expense tools and “a far wider range of hotel and airline content”. Accent founder and CEO Lucian Boronea will remain in his role and continue as a shareholder with a “significant minority stake” in the business.
An eTravel spokesperson said no staffing or management changes are foreseen “for the time being” and clients can expect to continue working with their existing account managers.
The deal marks eTravel’s entry into Romania, where CEO Andrzej Wierzba said he sees “very strong long-term growth potential”.
“It is a market in which professional, technology-led travel management still has a great deal of room to grow. We are building a strong, well-positioned player precisely to capture that opportunity, and we are investing with a long-term horizon in mind,” he said in a statement.
“Entering Romania is a major strategic move that significantly strengthens our position in the region. It brings us closer to our goal of making eTravel the leading business travel management platform in Central and Eastern Europe, a goal we will continue to pursue both organically and through further acquisitions.”
eTravel is the 16th largest travel management company in Europe, according to BTN Europe’s Leading TMCs 2026 report.
In 2026, eTravel expects to process more than 1.5 million bookings, including more than 700,000 flight tickets.
