United Airlines will add 10 new international destinations to its network and three new routes across Europe and Asia in summer 2027, the carrier announced on Tuesday (25 August).
Although most of the new destinations lean toward leisure travel, some will appeal to corporate travellers, most notably a daily Newark-Luxembourg service, which is set to launch on 2 April and operate year-round using Airbus A321XLR aircraft.
“Luxembourg is an important business corridor with US tax and banking ties," said Patrick Quayle, United’s SVP of global network planning and alliances, during a media call. "Corporate customers will now save multiple hours of travel time by connecting Newark and Luxembourg non-stop."
Year-round services between Washington Dulles and Toulouse, France, start on 26 April and will operate daily with Airbus A321XLR aircraft. Airbus has a facility near Toulouse, and its North American headquarters is near Dulles. "We're hoping Airbus employees will use their product" to fly between the two destinations, added Quayle.
Newark also will serve seven more new United destinations in summer 2027, including:
- Ljubljana, Slovenia, four times weekly on Boeing 767-400ER aircraft, from 12 May to 29 October
- Olbia, Sardinia, three times weekly on Boeing 767-300 ER aircraft, from 27 May to 20 September
- Catania, Sicily, four times weekly on Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, from 9 June to 20 September
- Ibiza, Spain, four times weekly on Airbus 321XLR aircraft, from 31 May to 7 October
- Valencia, Spain, three times weekly on Airbus A321XLR aircraft, from 2 June to 6 October
- Marseille, France, daily on Airbus A321XLR aircraft, from 4 June to 29 October
- Terceira in the Azores, three times weekly on Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft, from 9 June to 5 September
In addition, United is introducing new routes to European destinations it already serves from other US hubs.
Flights between Washington Dulles and Milan are scheduled to begin on 28 May and operate three times weekly on Boeing 767-300ER aircraft. Another new year-round route will be between Denver and Paris, operating daily with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
The carrier also plans to resume San Francisco-Tel Aviv flights on 28 March. Year-round services will operate three times weekly on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.
In Asia, United will introduce flights between San Francisco and Okinawa, Japan, a new city for the carrier, from 27 March to 27 October, with three weekly services on Boeing 777-200ER aircraft. The carrier will also introduce a daily year-round service between Los Angeles and Osaka, Japan, on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
Quayle noted that five of the 10 new destinations will be serviced with Airbus A321XLR single-aisle aircraft, which is the "newest international aircraft" in the United fleet and will be used for the “next phase” of its international growth.
He added that all four of the new European routes added in summer 2026 from Newark — Split, Croatia; Bari, Italy; Glasgow, Scotland; and Santiago de Compostela, Spain — will return in 2027.
