Scottish regional airline Loganair has announced it will launch scheduled flights from East Midlands airport to Brussels and Inverness starting this September.
The carrier is picking up the East Midlands-Brussels route that was formerly operated by Flybmi, which went into administration in February. It will offer a 0650 departure between Monday and Thursday, with return services leaving at 1900. There will also be an afternoon service on Fridays and Sundays. Loganair says the schedule was designed to be convenient for business passengers travelling to Belgian capital for the day.
Meanwhile, Loganair will launch six flights per week to Inverness, departing East Midlands at midday and returning at 1400.
Flights will be operated by a 49-seat Embraer 145 aircraft.
Loganair currently operates freight services from East Midlands, but the Brussels and Inverness flights will be the airline’s first passenger operations from the airport.
Managing director Jonathan Hinkles said: “I am extremely pleased to announce the expansion of our route map while also beginning passenger services from East Midlands airport. Both of these convenient air links will benefit the overall region, connecting with Belgium’s largest city – home to thousands of multinational businesses – while Scotland’s highlands are now just over 90 minutes away.”
