Korean Air is to dedicate the upper deck of its new superjumbos to business class passengers.
The Seoul-based airline has revealed it plans to install 94 flat-bed seats on Airbus A380s, which start operating on short-haul routes throughout East Asia later this year.
On the lower deck, below the ‘Prestige Cabin’, Korean said there would be 12 first class seats and 301 in economy.
The airline’s managing vice-president, Jae Ho Kim, predicted other carriers would eventually copy the premium deck concept.
Korean has 10 A380s on order from aircraft manufacturer Airbus. It is expected to take delivery of the first five at the end of this year, with the rest due in 2014.
The company said an A380 would likely be deployed on a European route before the end of the year.
