KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has confirmed it will resume
flights between Amsterdam Schiphol and Cardiff and launch services to Cork from
3 August.
The Cork route was due to launch at the end of March but was
postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Flights will operate on a daily
basis, departing Amsterdam at 1205 and arriving at 1255 local time, using an
Embraer 175 with capacity for 88 passengers. The return service leaves Cork at
1325 and lands at 1610 local time.
Meanwhile, the Cardiff route, which has been suspended since
27 March, will also operate on board an Embraer 175 and will initially be
offered daily. KLM plans to increase the frequency to three flights a day
depending on demand.
KLM plans to operate 80 per cent of its normal European
route network and 75 per cent of international destinations by the end of July,
rising to 95 per cent and 80 per cent respectively in August. However, it said
half of its international flights will be cargo-only operations.
