Travellers from the Midlands will have a new connection to Bangalore when Jet Airways begins offering a code share flight via Brussels.Jet Airways has confirmed that it will commence daily flights from Bangalore to its European hub at Brussels on October 31 subject to government approval. If granted, passengers will be able to connect with Birmingham airport via Jet”s existing code share flights with Brussels Airlines.
Jet Airways” current flights from Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai meet at Brussels at roughly the same time, where some of the aircraft continue to New York and Toronto. All the flights have connections from Birmingham with Brussels Airlines. Birmingham”s only other service to India is three flights a week to Amritsar with Air India.
The Jet Airways Bangalore flight, which will be on an Airbus A330, will depart the Indian city at 01.35, arriving at Brussels at 07.55. It then connects with the 09.00 flight to Birmingham, which arrives at 09.15.
In the other direction, the Brussels Airlines flight that leaves Birmingham at 06.35 and arrives at Brussels at 08.50 provides a good link with the Jet Airways flight that leaves the Belgian airport at 10.05, arriving just after midnight in Bangalore.
”The flights connect beautifully,” said Bernard Guisset, Jet Airways” sales support and external communications manager for continental Europe.
Jet Airways” decision to start the Bangalore route follows that of India”s other privately owned carrier, Kingfisher Airlines, which makes its first foray into the international market next month. However, it will fly to Heathrow from Bangalore, offering a daily service that will compete with British Airways.
