Jazeera Airways has launched services from Gatwick airport to Kuwait, marking the first new connection between the UK and the Middle Eastern country in 55 years.
The route, which began on Sunday, will initially operate four times a week, moving to a daily frequency from December this year. Flights are operated by the low-cost carrier’s Airbus A320neo aircraft with Business Class, a new Premium Economy and Economy.
Jazeera Airways’ Business Class product features a 33-inch seat pitch, priority boarding and a complimentary in-flight meal, while Premium Economy offers a 31-inch pitch and Economy 29 inches.
According to Jazeera Airways, the new route will allow passengers to connect to its onward destinations such as Dubai, Bahrain, Jeddah, Doha and Delhi through its owned and operated Terminal 5 at Kuwait airport.
British Airways and Kuwait Airways operate flights between Heathrow and Kuwait.
CEO Rohit Ramachandran said: “We are proud to be the first airline in over 50 years to offer a new service between Kuwait and the UK, helping to reinforce the strong bonds between the two nations that is marked this year by the 120th anniversary of the Kuwait-British Treaty of Friendship.”
