Sicily’s Trapani airport has been closed by the Italian Air Force due to the military action in Libya.
The Ryanair base, on the western coastline of the island, will remain out of bounds until at least March 28.
All of Ryanair’s flights will instead arrive and depart from Palermo, to the east of the island.
Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said: “Ryanair apologises to passengers for any inconvenience caused by the Italian Air Force’s decision to close Trapani Airport to civilian aircraft.
"Ryanair has contacted all affected passengers by email and SMS to inform them of their flight change, which is outside of our control.”
Italian airlines Air One and Meridiana Fly also operate out of the airport.
