A group of Chinese day-trippers ended up with more than they bargained for when apparently told by Macau guides that they hadn”t done enough shopping.
The Hong Kong tourists” ire was provoked by the insistence that they shop more ” with the suggestion that there may have been some sort of commission incentive in mind ” leading to brawls along a Macau beach.
The day had started well enough with a few visits to some sites and shops, but the visitors were astounded to hear that hands weren”t going into pockets enough and were apparently encouraged to patronise a casino or two to make up the shortfall.
And in a development that”s not entirely clear, the 124 tourists were reported as being rounded up and bizarrely taken to a local beach, where fights subsequently broke out involving guides and some officers of the law.
The Macau Government Tourist Office was concerned enough to insist that it has reached consensus on combating ”zero-priced” and ”negative-priced” tours.
